Nomination from field service engineer

RECIPIENT: Alan Walker ORIGINATOR: Paul Ashurst
TIME PERIOD: May 1997
DIVISION: Network Services
VICE PRESIDENT: Peter Van Camp
DEPARTMENT: European Network Control
SUPERVISOR NAME: Richard Talbot

WHAT HAS THE RECIPIENT DONE TO MERIT AN 'OVATION! RECOMMENDATION?
Alan Walker stepped forward a few Sundays ago and made himself available during his own time by devoting 16 hours to the complete configuration of the
VPOP expansion in London. At the time there was a great deal of pressure to
get the job done and it was proving difficult to find both time and resources
to complete the task. Not only was he able to do this, but he provided me with
a clear and comprehensive report on all the work done.

Alan offers continued support for all related projects. His thoroughness
certainly makes my life a lot easier and it is fair to say that his dedication
to troubleshooting both London dialup rotaries enables problems to be resolved
faster, and I believe in some cases even prevents problems from occurring at
all. With so much of our and our customers' attention now diverted to the
London POPs, his contribution is invaluable.

Thanks Alan for your ongoing help. It is very much appreciated. Well done!

Subject: Faulty gam ports

Richard/Alan
Following Alan's suggestion we have now opened up successfully 6 circuits (GAM Port 52, 148, 21, 276, 218, 82). Both Worldcom and Compuserve can now see calls passing through all channels.

One channel remains to be actioned - port 205. This will be done this evening and I have advised David Crawford. The 8th port - 146 has a separate ticket open to which the ISP engineers are investigating.
Thanks for all your help Alan.... good suggestion.
